From Horsmonden, the run to Stansted heads north on the A21 (via Lamberhurst) to the M25, then clockwise around towards Dartford before joining the M11 north to Stansted — a distance of roughly 65–70 miles, the longest of the four airports we cover other than Luton.

This route stays clear of the Blackwall Tunnel entirely, which is worth knowing if you've read that a Stansted run from Kent can mean tunnel congestion — from Horsmonden's position, the M25/M11 route avoids that risk.

Stansted has a single terminal (postcode CM24 1RW), so unlike Gatwick or Heathrow there's no terminal to specify when you book — one less thing to think about. It's the UK's largest Ryanair base, with 150+ destinations, and also serves Jet2, Wizz Air and easyJet — so most passengers travelling this route are on budget airline flights, often with early departures.

The Stansted Express runs from London Liverpool Street in around 50 minutes — but there's no direct train from Horsmonden. Getting there by rail means a taxi to a Kent station, a train into London, then the Stansted Express: three legs and your luggage changing hands twice, rather than one.

For a solo traveller on a mid-morning flight, that combination can still work out. But for two or more passengers, or an early departure before the trains are running, a direct taxi from your door is usually simpler — and the per-person cost gets more competitive the more of you are travelling together.
